Distilled is not just about whisky and you’ll be surprised at just how much food and drink Speyside boasts.

Last year we launched a festival to celebrate all the food and drink producers that make Speyside unique, and in 2017 Spirit of Speyside: Distilled returns – with an even greater range of home-grown flavours. On September 1 and 2 you’ll find world leading drinks brands rubbing shoulders with small artisan producers for the weekend festival at the Elgin Town Hall, in a showcase of Speyside’s finest whisky, gin, beer and food. We’ll be serving up classic drams alongside contemporary cocktails and speciality coffee.

Here are 5 reason why you should be making plans to be in Elgin this September…

1. It’s not just about whisky

Whisky. If you’ve visited Speyside you’ll be well aware that it’s what we’re famous for! However, there’s so much more to Speyside than that.

At Distilled we’ll have the likes of Caorunn Gin, Cairngorm Leaf & Bean Coffee Roasters and Spey Valley Brewery exhibiting their products. So whatever your beverage of choice, we’ve got you covered.

2. One region, under one roof

Distilled is truly representative of Speyside as a gastronomic region of note. Our Festival manager, Pery Zakeri, says it best:

“Distilled is a melting pot of fantastic flavours and wonderful personalities sharing their enthusiasm for fine food and drink. It offers the chance to enjoy so many different tastes, as well as broadening your knowledge of food and drink through our menu of masterclasses. We are proud to be bringing producers and the public together under one roof in celebration of the Speyside larder.”

Save yourself some petrol money and have Speyside come to you, as we gather one region, under one roof.

3. Take a masterclass

Distilled is all about the tastes that makes the Speyside region – home to more than half of Scotland’s malt whisky distilleries – renowned across the world for its food and drink. Distilled gives opportunities to experience and learn more about the flavours, through a range of tutorials or ‘masterclasses’ staged by experts.

Masterclasses range from the chance to sample rare and cask strength drams, to cocktail making and food pairing. A range of masterclasses are being offered again this year, with full details of the range, times and prices to be announced on our event website.

4. Exclusive product launches

Fancy yourself as an early adopter? Like to be ahead of the curve? Distilled will offer you the chance to taste and take home exclusive releases.

Last year we had an exclusive collaboration between Glenfiddich and Speyside Craft Brewery, hosting the release of their experiemental IPA, a single malt whisky finished in IPA casks. This year will be no different, with Speyside’s finest producers testing their newest ranges on Speyside’s foodie public – watch this space for some exciting announcements…

5. This year will be bigger and better

We’re taking over a whole second floor of Elgin Town Hall this year, such is the demand from Speyside producers to be involved.

As well as almost 40 individual exhibitors, we’ll have some of Speyside’s best restaurants serving up street food, as well as live music and space to relax and take a break from tasting!

This celebration of Speyside’s food and drink features four different sessions taking place from 1-5pm and 6-10pm each day. Tickets are priced at £20 which includes entry, six vouchers for tasting samples of gin, whisky or beer, a lanyard and a Glencairn crystal nosing and tasting glass.

Tickets for #distiller17 are on sale now, and with limited places available, food and drink lovers are urged to get in quick to ensure they don’t miss out. For more information and to book tickets visit our ticket page.
